Hello, my name is teaser text and you can change me!
A close personal friend of mine teaches 5th grade science at a nearby elementary school. One of the things that he puts a lot of focus on is attempting to keep the kids very enthusiastic about science. He realizes that discussing theory could bore the kids and he certainly does not wish to make the kids detest science the slightest bit. He would rather show how science has useful applications and he sees that the kids enjoy things which are fun and exciting to watch and they also like to get involved in the process. So to come up with extra ideas he is always researching ideas for science lesson plans for elementary school students.
Every year the kids in his school get involved in a science fair and he tries to give the kids lots of interesting options to select from. There are numerous science projects for 5th graders and he tries to help the children to come up with ideas that will be interesting for them while also being not so difficult to complete in a reasonable period of time. If the young boys and girls have the ability to complete the project and do something they can be proud of they will enjoy science rather than be afraid of it or bored because of it.
In addition to the science fair on the list of things my friend loves to do is develop a project that the whole class can work on as a team. He feels that team building activities for students are incredibly important and he isn’t just educating them about science but about how to work nicely with other individuals, resolve conflicts and how a team of individuals functioning together can accomplish more than a lot of individuals functioning on an individual basis.
One of the most popular projects he has worked on with his students is a classic, the volcano. This project has a lot of elements that the kids enjoy. It is extremely hands on and the kids take part in every aspect of the actual construction of the volcano not to mention its eruption. Another project that kids have really enjoyed previously was building a model of the solar system that is displayed around the entire class with the Sun, the Earth, the Moon and each of the other planets at different points inside class room. Last year the kids even raised some steelhead trout in their classroom and then let them go into a nearby creek.
He spends a large amount of time investigating different ideas and creating a lot of ideas of his own because he really thinks that making science fun and exciting is the best method to keep children interested and he hopes that his students will actually pursue a career in the sciences.
